Bodycasting Art by Tim Jacobs
The Beauty of the Human Body
Every human body is so beautiful that it is already a work of art in itself. That is why bodycasting is, to me, one of the purest and most powerful forms of artistic expression. Working directly with the human body and translating its shapes into sculpture — using materials such as plaster, bronze, epoxy, and beyond the limits of imagination — results in truly unique artworks.
What Is Bodycasting?
Bodycasting is the process of creating sculptures from a mould taken directly from the human body. The moulding material I use is a skin-safe, hypoallergenic powder, mixed with water. It is similar to the material dentists use to take dental impressions, but specially formulated for sculptors.
Within just a few minutes, the material sets into a flexible rubber mould, capturing an exact negative replica of the body's shape and surface — down to the finest details. This mould is then used to cast the final sculpture, resulting in a highly accurate and lifelike artwork.
Artistic Vision & Materials
Each bodycast is created with care, respect, and attention to detail. Depending on the concept and wishes, the final piece can be produced in different materials, each giving the sculpture its own character and presence. No two casts are ever the same — every piece is entirely personal and one of a kind.

Current Projects & Exhibitions
I am currently working on a larger bodycasting project with the goal of creating enough sculptures for my own exhibition at the end of 2026. At the same time, I also accept commissioned bodycasts, which help support the continuation of my artistic work.
Commissioned Bodycasting
On request, I create bodycasts and sculptures for clients. Each commission starts with a thorough intake and consultation, so we both have a clear understanding of the idea, the process, and the possible outcome. Bodycasting can be done of any part of the body, and the final artwork can be finished in a variety of materials.
Baby Hand & Foot Casts
At the moment, there is a high demand for baby hand and foot castings. These make for a deeply meaningful keepsake — a moment in time captured forever, and a piece of art that will remain in your home for life.

Frequently Asked Questions – Bodycasting
Is bodycasting safe?
Yes. The moulding material I use is skin-safe, hypoallergenic, and non-toxic. It is similar to the material used by dentists for dental impressions and is specially formulated for use on the human body. Safety and comfort are always my top priority.
How long does a bodycasting session take?
The actual moulding process usually takes only a few minutes per cast. However, the full session — including preparation, positioning, and aftercare — typically takes 30 to 60 minutes, depending on the body part and complexity of the cast.
Does bodycasting hurt?
No, bodycasting is completely painless. The moulding material may feel cool and slightly heavy at first, but it does not cause discomfort. I guide you through the entire process to ensure you feel relaxed and at ease.
Which body parts can be cast?
Almost any part of the body can be cast, including hands, feet, arms, torsos, faces (partial), and more. During the consultation, we discuss what is possible and what works best artistically and practically.
What materials can the final sculpture be made from?
The final artwork can be created in a variety of materials, such as plaster, epoxy, bronze-style finishes, or other creative finishes. The choice of material is discussed during the intake and depends on the desired look, durability, and budget.
Do you offer baby hand and foot casts?
Yes. Baby hand and foot castings are one of the most requested projects. They create a timeless keepsake — a moment captured forever — and a unique artwork for your home. Extra care and gentle handling are always taken during these sessions.
How long does it take to receive the finished artwork?
The production time depends on the material and finish, but on average the final piece is ready within a few weeks. This will be clearly discussed during the intake so you know what to expect.
Do you take commissions?
Yes. I accept commissioned bodycasting projects alongside my own artistic work. Each commission starts with a detailed consultation, ensuring clarity about the concept, process, and final result.
How much does bodycasting cost?
Prices vary depending on the body part, size, material, and finish. After the intake and discussion of your wishes, you will receive a clear price indication before any work begins.
Guideline:
Baby hand/feet €150-€350
Body part €400-€1000
