Swimming at Font Għadir prohibited due to sewage contamination
Signs have been fixed in affected area
Health authorities on Thursday advised against swimming in the Font Għadir area of Sliema.
The warning comes as a precaution and until further notice because of a sewage overflow affecting bathing water quality and presenting a risk to bathers' health.
Environmental Health Officers are investigating to determine the source of contamination, the duration of which cannot be predicted at this stage.
Signs indicating the area have been fixed where swimming is prohibited have been fixed.
They will be removed when the quality is restored.

Vandaag zitten ontzettend veel plaatsen op Malta en Gozo zonder stroom. En eerlijk gezegd... wij zagen dit eigenlijk al aankomen!
De afgelopen weken zijn steeds meer Nederlandse en Vlaamse studenten in Malta aangekomen voor hun stage. Sommigen zijn hier pas een paar dagen, anderen alweer vier, vijf of zes weken.
Chocoladeliefhebbers opgelet! Op zaterdag 17 oktober 2026 staat St Joseph High Street in Ħamrun weer helemaal in het teken van chocolade tijdens het Ħamrun Chocolate Festival.
Hoe is het weer op Malta in oktober? Kun je nog zwemmen en is het nog warm? Oktober is wat ons betreft één van de fijnste maanden op Malta. Niet alleen voor vakantiegangers, maar juist ook als je hier woont, werkt, studeert of stage loopt.
UPSATE: 3 Okt 2026 - extra proefduik is op 18 Oktober!
De vorige NedMalta Kroegentocht was zo'n succes dat we besloten hebben om een uitzondering te maken: op zaterdag 7 november 2026 doen we het gewoon nóg een keer! 🥳
