English Cafe Malta: Where Expats Meet, Party & Connect!

At NedMalta, we're always on the lookout for great places for Dutch expats to meet new people, have fun, and make the most of their time in Malta. That's why we sat down with Ulisse, the founder of English Cafe Malta, to talk about his incredible events, his journey as an organizer, and why Dutchies in Malta should absolutely check it out!
Meet Ulisse – The Man Behind the Events
We meet Ulisse at one of his favorite event locations in Malta. With a big smile, he welcomes us and immediately sets the tone: "This is what English Cafe Malta is all about—bringing people together!"
🔹 So, tell us a bit about yourself and how English Cafe Malta started.
"I'm Ulisse, the owner and managing director of English Cafe Malta. I've been organizing events for… honestly, I lost count! We've done over 1,000 events, and we're still going strong. It all started with a simple idea: I wanted to create a space where expats and locals could connect, socialize, and have fun. Over time, that idea turned into a daily event series with meetups, parties, excursions, and activities. From karaoke nights to beer pong tournaments, we try to keep things fresh and exciting."
Why Are English Cafe Events So Unique?
🔹 Malta has a lot of events. What makes yours stand out?
"We focus on the human element. A lot of events are just about the venue or the music, but we put the social experience first. Our events are international—people from all over the world come together, and by the end of the night, you feel like you've known each other for years. That's the magic of it."
Why Should Dutch Expats in Malta Join?
🔹 What would you say to Dutch people in Malta who haven't been to one of your events yet?
"If you want to meet new people, explore Malta, and have fun—you need to check us out. We offer high-quality events at low cost, so it's accessible for everyone. And, let's be honest, the Dutch know how to party! We've hosted Dutch King's Day, and it was pure madness in the best way possible. So, Dutchies, you're more than welcome!"
The Challenges & Rewards of Organizing Events in Malta
🔹 What are some challenges you face when organizing events?
"Logistics can be a nightmare—finding venues, managing staff, and making sure everything runs smoothly. But at the end of the day, when I see people making new friends, having a great time, and coming back for more, it makes all the hard work worth it."
🔹 How has the event scene in Malta changed over the years?
"It's definitely grown! More people, more events, and more variety. But at the same time, it can feel overwhelming, which is why we keep our focus on quality over quantity."
Upcoming Events & Where to Find More Info
🔹 What's next for English Cafe Malta?
"We have something every single day! So whether you want to sing your heart out at karaoke, test your skills at beer pong, or just meet awesome people at a social meetup, we've got you covered."
🔹 Where can people find more info and book tickets?
"Check out our website for event details and tickets, and follow us on Instagram to get a feel for the vibe."
